Definition

Sinus of Valsalva Aneurysm Marfan’s Syndrome

In this entity the sinuses may enlarge to the extent they become aneurysmal as seen in this case where the sinus of Valsalva becomes aneurysmal and extends into the right atrium.  It can rupture and here is a dramatic hemodynamic event which is caused by the low pressure right atrium, being suddenly subjected to the high systemic pressures.   This is a life threatening event.
